Milestones

The Department was established in 2013 with 2 B.Com Undergraduate courses in self-financing stream. The Department offers 2 Bachelor of Commerce degree, viz. B.Com. Model I Computer Application and B.Com Model I Finance & Taxation. In addition to this the Department offers two add-on courses course and one professional programme ACCA. All these provide a foundation for students who plan to pursue their career in business, commerce, accounting etc. The increasing number of applicants year by year for the B. Com Programme is a testimony for the efficiency of the Department. The quality of the students is very high and thus helps them to pursue higher learning in reputed institutions. We are encouraged to see many industries coming to our department for placement, which reinforces our belief in the effectiveness of our teaching and its suitability to the dynamic corporate world.

- Facilities for doing B.Com with ACCA - Fully Airconditioned computer lab with 50 computers and Wi-Fi hotspots - Department Library with 759 Text Books, 340 Reference books, 3 Journals and 3 Newspapers - ICT enabled classrooms with laptops and LCD projectors - Add-on courses including diploma and certification programmes - Green Gram Micro Enterprises - ( for developing entrepreneurial traits of the students) - Yi-Unit

Academic Excellence

- The Yi –Unit of the Department bagged Best Yi-unit Award -2019 - The Yi- members of the Department won Best Project Award-2019 for the work ' Naam Onnu - Nammukku Oru India'

Extension Activities

2019-2020 Academic Year Training to Kudumbasree Members On 29th December 2019, Department organised a programme to provide training on soap making to the Chaithanya Kudumbasree Unit of the 4th Ward of Poothrikka Grama Panchayath. Tribal Visit As part of the social extension programmes, on 10/01/2020 the Department organised a tribal visit to tribal colonies under Marayoor forest division. Two backward colonies viz. Kummattankuzhi, and Kanakkayam were selected for this programme. Blankets were provided to 50 aged members of the settlement. Arrangements were also made for supplying newspaper in these two settlements for one year. Akshrakootu As part of the Aksharasree initiatives of the College, the Department took initiative to set a library in a tribal school located at Vengappaara Tribal Settlement, Marayoor. Books, shelves, tables and chairs worth Rs. 30000 was donated to the library. We have also paid subscription for one year Malayalam Daily for this library Sahayahastham - During the year an amount of 20000 was handed over to the NSS Unit of the College for flood relief activities - We are giving a monthly financial assistance @ Rs. 2000 to a kidney patient, Mr. Haridas.
