  • The Library provides several terminals with high-end computers for high-speed internet access.
  • Library members can browse and access their needed online resources, download journal articles etc. on these systems.

Academic Activities

  • Digital Library ‘PRAMANA’ Inaugurated by M.G University Vice Chancellor
  • Introduced one Touch Screen System for OPAC searching for library members
  • Arranged a poster display regarding UN Week celebration on 23/10/2014 in to make awareness about UN activities among college students.
  • Providing hands-on Training programs by the Librarian in the usage of Online Journals especially for research scholars.
  • Conducting Power Point Presentation Competitions for students on nationally and internationally important dates
  • Display of important events and dates on a LCD screen at the entrance of the library
  • Library working hours for circulation section extended for 30 minutes and raised the number of borrowing books for Degree and P.G Students, as it was a recommendation of NAAC during previous visit.
  • Started a new remedial coaching section for Open Course Materials

Best User Award

Instituted Best User Award to students and staff for promoting their reading habit.

Orientation Programme

Orientation program is arranged for new members of the library.

  • For students – in the beginning of every academic year.
  • For Research Scholars – in the beginning of every course work.

Details of Staff enrichment programmes in Library

  • Visited St. Theresa’s College library Ernakulam to make awareness about the organization of digital library collection on May 2014.
  • Conducted one day digital library training programme for library staff

Extension Activities

  • Organized a seminar for Kudumbasree members of Poothrikka Panchayath about online services of Kerala Government on 07/06/2014
  • Organized library visit for the school students to promote reading habits in younger generation in association with Library week celebrations.
  • Organized an Elocution competition for High School students of St.Peter’s Higher Secondary School, Kolenchery on 14/07/14.
  • In collaboration withSt. Stephen’s College Uzhavoor conducted a UGC Sponsored National Seminar on ‘Mass Communication: Challenges, Trends and Future’ on 12th and 13th November, 2014.
  • A talk on Vaikom Muhammad Bashir’s ‘Viswavikhyathamaya mookku’ for High school children’s regarding children’s day celebration on 14/11/2014

Membership

  • Admission to the library is restricted to members only
  • Library Membership is open to the teachers, students, non-teaching staff and the retired staff of the College. Membership to any other category of users can be given only with the approval of the Library Advisory Committee.
  • Application for membership is to be made on the prescribed application form. Application with a copy of their photograph should be submitted at the Circulation Counter.

Use of the Library

  • Members have the privilege of direct access to the shelves in the stack room and the reading halls and the freedom to browse among the books.
  • Books can be freely taken out of the shelves, but on no account they could be re-shelved by the members because of the danger of misplacement.
  • The library provides computer based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for searching documents available in the library.
  • Readers can consult with this computerized catalogue (OPAC) for knowing the required book of his/ her is available or not. For better use of the library, members can seek the help of library staff.
  • Library is fully computerized by using a standard software SOUL (Software For University Libraries) and all the computers are networked.
  • All books and member ID cards are bar-coded for easy transaction. Internet facilities are also available in the library and are open to all the members of the library.

General Rules

  • The privilege of borrowing books from the Library is restricted to the members only.
  • Library Member ID Card is non-transferable.
  • Members shall observe silence in the reading halls and shall not engage in conversation so as to cause annoyance to any other reader.
  • Members should carry ID Cards at all times & produce it on demand
  • Members shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the Library.
  • Members are responsible for any damage caused by them to the books or any other property belonging to the Library and should pay the penalty imposed on them by the Library
  • Members should kept their personal belongings outside the Library.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
  • The members caught for tearing pages/ stealing of books will be suspended forthwith from using the library facilities.
